A slow site loses visitors before they see anything. The usual causes, how to measure it, and the easy wins.

On a phone with a weak signal, every heavy image and extra script is felt. If the page is still blank after a few seconds, people press back and tap the next result, often a competitor. Here is how to find out if your site is slow, and what to fix first.
How to measure your speed
Run your page through PageSpeed Insights (free, by Google) and look at the mobile tab. Google’s Core Web Vitals are the three numbers that matter most:
- LCP (Largest Contentful Paint): how fast the main content appears. Good is 2.5 seconds or less.
- INP (Interaction to Next Paint): how quickly the page reacts when you tap. Good is 200 milliseconds or less.
- CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift): how much the page jumps around while loading. Good is 0.1 or less.
The usual culprits
- Huge photos uploaded straight from a camera or phone.
- Too many plugins, chat widgets, pop-ups and tracking scripts.
- Cheap or overloaded hosting, far from your visitors.
- Big sliders and auto-playing videos at the top of the page.
Easy wins
Resize and compress images (modern formats like WebP or AVIF help a lot), remove plugins and scripts you don’t use, and load chat widgets only when needed. Good hosting and a CDN (a network that serves your files from nearby) make a visible difference for visitors across India.

Questions people ask
What is a good page speed score?
Aim for “good” on all three Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP and CLS) on mobile. The overall PageSpeed score is a helpful guide, but the Core Web Vitals reflect what real visitors experience.
Does website speed affect Google ranking?
Yes, page experience including Core Web Vitals is one of the signals Google uses, although relevant, helpful content matters more. A fast site also keeps more visitors, which is the bigger win.
Will a faster website get me more enquiries?
Usually, yes. Fewer people leave before the page loads, so more of them see your offer and your contact buttons.
